Corruption of Champions 2

The game I've decided on this week was another RPG, this one having more emphasis on text and freedom.  I wanted to do the original game, Corruption of Champions, but that one seems to be unplayable even though you can download it.  But CoC2 is not a direct sequel meaning you can still pick it up without missing huge elements of story.

So I'll start with the gameplay itself which has some interesting mechanics and useful quality of life improvements for a text game.  Firstly, the game provides two ways to defeat your enemies, each character possessing a Health bar and a Resolve bar. Draining either one results in a KO, meaning you can target the enemies in two different ways but so can they.  Mainly, physically damaging attacks will drain Health as mentally damaging (often sexual) attacks will drain Resolve.  As you progress, you'll also find a variety of crafting and brewing ingredients to make new items.  This can often lead to concocting potions with weird effects, like once I made a potion that turned my penis into a set of tendrils.  And yes, this has an effect on scenes, like the tendrils would be used to restrain characters as I'd basically tentacle rape them.  Not only that, but there are features to further help you understand the world around you such as a clear map and buttons to choose your actions rather than typing stuff out.  These buttons will house everything from your directions to travel, menus to open, what skills you can use in battle, options in events, etc.

In actual battles, you'd also have various skills you can equip, some having a level of synergy.  I had a fire mage who could summon a fire spirit, use oil to disorient and soak my enemies, and a fireball that would inflict splash damage.  Often, a splash of oil followed by a fireball would deal significant damage to an opposing team.  Unlike conventional RPG's, they don't have an MP meter, but rather the skills have a cooldown.  Then I tried a thief, using skills like Smoke Bomb to blind my opponents before striking fast and hard with skills to bring down their effectiveness in battle.  In one battle, I even used a combination, first going stealth using Fading Strike to attack one enemy, then used my Dirty Trick skill to strike for a critical against an opponent in a guarded stance to deal massive damage and disrupt their stance.  Battles will have you considering ways to combine moves rather than just simply attacking with the most powerful move you have, giving you a lot to consider with your build and how you approach even random encounters.

But then you have the story, since that's the main focus of the game.  The writing is where the game shines, describing not only the areas, events, and characters, but even the sex scenes are well written as you can envision what's happening quite clearly.  You'll meet characters along your path whom you'll wonder about and grow to care about, often finding some you help, others you fight.  Each character has their own personality and ways to engage with them, from a minotaurus who loves to fight to a kind-hearted pixie who has turned to a life of crime out of necessity.  Eventually, you'll get to know these characters and be able to help them and (in some cases) getting to "know them" in other ways.

As for inclusiveness, this game has much to offer... but it also doesn't have much of a restriction.  You'll find yourself in uncomfortable positions sometimes, but in most cases, you can kind of "avoid" certain outcomes.  I recall one such moment for myself was losing a fight to a horseman who had his way with me.  Obviously, you don't have to read it and can just scroll down and skip, but if you can't handle certain things like futa demons or rape, this game may not be one for you.  But if you want a good RPG with a story that revolves around sex, then I'd definitely recommend this one.  This dev also has other projects you can check out over on their page, like TITS, which are very similar but different stories, characters, and settings.  This game in particular isn't complete, and this review was written on version 0.4.1, but the experience is certainly there and you can tell from this whether this is game and their others are right for you.  I hope you'll enjoy them just as much as I did and show their devs some much deserved love.
